Dragages honoured for its site management and safety
25 February 2009
Dragages Hong Kong Limited was honoured with a Bronze Award in the Good Housekeeping Promotional Campaign. Organised by the Occupational Safety and Health Council (OSHC), this highly respected award programme is designed to promote health and safety in the workplace.
Each year, the programme considers nominations from a wide range of organisations and industries. Dragages Hong Kong Limited received the Bronze Award in recognition of its excellent management of the CLP – Castle Peak Cable Tunnel, a complex and large-scale tunnelling project that links the Castle Peak and Black Point Power Station to the Tuen Mun area. The project was selected from over 280 entries, an increase of more than 40% compared to the previous year. The majority of these entries came from the construction and property management industries.
“Good housekeeping is an essential component of site safety,” remarked Nicolas Borit, Managing Director of Dragages Hong Kong Limited. “This award is another testament to the effort we put into site management and safe operations.”
The award was presented today, a date designated as Good Housekeeping Day by the OSHC. The presentation also coincided with the Council’s Good Housekeeping Forum, which brought together organisations from various fields to share best practices.
About Dragages’ projects:
The CLP Castle Peak Cable Tunnel project allows for the installation of cables from Castle Peak and Black Point Power Station to the Tuen Mun area. The tunnel passes through a mountainous area that stretches from the western end of Castle Peak Power Station to the Tuen Mun town centre.
The 4.5 kilometres long tunnel is being bored using a double shield hard rock tunnel boring machine (TBM) equipped with a tunnel segment erector. The internal diameter of the cable tunnel is 4.5 metres and allows for eight high voltage cable circuits to be installed. More
