Diversity in Action 2015

28 December 2015

Team members at Dragages Hong Kong come from all corners of the world. Among the 34 different nationalities working together, the top five are Chinese (58%), Nepalese (21%), French (7%), Filipino (5%) and British (3%), which collectively account for 94% of some 2,400 staff at Dragages Hong Kong.

To promote integration and to celebrate diversity, Dragages Hong Kong launched its first Cultural Diversity Festival in 2014, with more than 1,500 colleagues participating. Following the success of this inaugural event, Dragages Hong Kong stepped up its efforts in 2015 to cultivate workplace diversity through the ‘Diversity in Action’ campaign. Designed to promote acceptance, respect and inclusion, the campaign’s vibrant programme ranged from diversity awareness workshops and inter-site team building activities to traditional cultural festivals and a family Fun Day.

Mutual respect and inclusion are vital ingredients in the renowned quality of our work. By embracing ‘Success in Diversity’, we will continue to maintain a harmonious, multicultural workplace that respects diversity in all its forms!

Dashain Party

Local Chinese is our majority nationality and Nepalese ranks second, together representing more than 79% of our entire workforce. Our third on-site Dashain Party was held at the end of October to celebrate the Nepalese New Year. More than 400 Nepalese colleagues together with our management team joined this festive celebration.

Annual Fun Day

“We United” was the theme of our 8th annual Fun Day, which brought together more than 3,000 participants, including our staff and their families, as well as clients and working partners. This fun-filled event featured game booths, sports activities, and team competitions. In keeping with our vision of diversity and CSR, we also raised HK$150,000 for our three major NGO partners, namely Families of Spinal Muscular Atrophy Charitable Trust, Hong Chi Association and Hong Kong Federation of Handicapped Youth. The Fun Day was co-organised by Dragages Hong Kong, BYME, AsiaWorld-Expo and VSL-Intrafor with the support of 93 working partners.

Moving Forward

The ‘Diversity in Action’ campaign will continue and we will kick off the new year with Diversity Awareness Workshops in the first quarter. Our aim remains to uphold our ideals for diversity and inclusiveness and build a harmonious workplace for all.
