On 21 November, all employees from Dragages Hong Kong and Bouygues Travaux Publics, as well as our clients and business partners, participated in the 2019 Bouygues Travaux Publics Safety Day, where more than 15,000 people across 65 worksites of different Bouygues Travaux Publics entities and 15 different countries downed their tools for half a day to reflect on our safety performance and give their feedback on the safety & risk management. The agenda of the activity included a the video interviews presenting the important messages from the management of Bouygues Travaux Publics: Philippe AMEQUIN, Chief Executive Officer, Bertrand BURTSCHELL, Executive Vice President (Paris Region & Major Works France), and Vincent AVRILLON, Executive Vice President (Europe-Africa-America) about the Safety Commitment, followed by a walkthrough of the company’s health and safety policy, its performance indicators, a review of the 12 health and safety principles, a reflection process on how to control major risks, along with an upcoming new initiatives dedicated to BYTP’s safety culture.
 
In order to fulfill total involvement of our employees, all of them were invited to complete an anonymous questionnaire containing 119 questions on spot, where they were asked to evaluate their real-life working environment, the application of safety measures in our projects and the company’s performance on reinforcing the safety culture in the company. We believe that the valuable feedback from our frontline employees will help draw up a map of employee perceptions of our safety culture, in order to respond to the tagline underpinning the whole day: How committed are we?
 
“There is always room for improvement in the way that safety is implemented in the company. As the management of the company, we need to improve by listening to those who are physically working in the frontline every day.” said Wes JONES, Managing Director of Dragages Hong Kong. “It is also our priority to bring the standard of project environment to the highest possible level.”

 
The responses from our employees will be consolidated for identifying new collective objectives to raise the safety standard. A further survey will be conducted two or three years from now to analyse the progress made.
